Klaus: Egyptian-Czech relations witnessed tangible progress over the past years.
Shafik Gabr: The President's visit stems Czech investments in Egypt.

In the framework of Egyptian-Czech economic co-operation, Czech President Vaclav Klaus paid his first official visit to Egypt after his re-election last February.

The Czech President held bilateral talks with President Hosni Mubarak, during which they discussed issues of mutual concern and means of optimizing the two countries trade exchange.

Klaus also held a number of meetings with Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazef and a number of ministers as well as Head of the People's Assembly Dr. Ahmed Fathy Srour and head of Shoura Council Mr. Safwat el Sherif.

As a sign of strong rooted economic ties between Egypt and the Czech Republic, ARTOC Groups' Chairman Mohamed Shafik Gabr received Klaus and his accompanying delegation of leading businessmen to hammer out new business opportunities in Egypt.

Kluas was expected to sign a number of new protocols and agreements during his visit after acknowledging the progress Egyptian-Czech business had made in the previous years.

During their meeting Shafik and Kluas focused on activating the dual economic co-operation and enhance the role the Egyptian-Czech businessmen council as well as raising awareness of the two markets' products, needs and opportunities. Mr. Shafik is considered to be one the pioneering investors who prompted Czech investments in Egypt through ARTOC Group, the sole franchisee of Czech cars "Skoda" since 1994.

During his visit to ARTOC Group's Mokkatam Headquarters, the Czech president unveiled Skoda's latest car models "Mini Fabia" and "Fabia Space" in a celebrated ceremony. With introducing its new Fabia, Skoda once again succeeds in redefining the "mini car" concept with the car's amazingly spacious interior and eye catching model that carries on the success of Skoda's MPV breakthrough model "Roomster".
